Northern Lights & Summer Nights

Broadmoor Community Church , 315 Lake Ave, Colorado Springs, CO, United States

Our Spring concert opens with a collection of pieces inspired by the heavens. The highlight of this section is a stunning work by Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo appropriately entitled “Northern Lights” that beautifully captures the crisp, pure beauty of the Northern Lights themselves, surrounded by a collection of works by Randall Thompson, Gabriel Fauré and William Harris.
The “Summer Nights” portion of the concert opens with a captivating collection of truly ancient songs in modern arrangements entitled “Medieval Nights”, followed by an assortment of soft jazz works that recall the hazy days of summer. To close this Grand Finale concert, ChoralSong is thrilled to present an outstanding major work by Libby Larsen that recalls the days of the American pioneers. With movements entitled “Comin’ to Town”, “Beneath These Alien Stars,” and “Hoopla!”, “The Settling Years” is a brilliant way to not only end the concert, but our very first season of performances!
